Camp Rock opens its gates again, and this time the prize is a tour slot. Connect 3 need an opening act for a reunion run, so the band goes back to the lake where they started and turns the summer into one long audition. The campers get a single shot to play for the people whose posters hang over their bunks.

Veronica Rodriguez directs from a script by Eydie Faye. The Jonas Brothers and Maria Canals-Barrera return from the 2008 original and its 2010 sequel, The Final Jam, with Sherry Cola alongside them and a new intake of campers played by Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, Lumi Pollack, Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter and Brooklynn Pitts.

It is set for August 2026, sixteen years after the last Final Jam, which makes it a sequel pitched at kids who were not born when the first film aired and at the adults who taped it. The shape of the thing is familiar: performance numbers, bunkhouse rivalries, and a summer the songs have to carry. Nothing has screened yet, so everything past the premise is still a promise.
