Henry Lau
Henry Lau is an actor, born 1989.
Henry Lau is a Toronto-born musician who has spent his working life in South Korea and China. He debuted in 2008 in the Super Junior subunit Super Junior-M, went solo in 2013 with the EP Trap, and had the largest commercial moment of his career in 2017 with It's You, which became the most streamed Korean original soundtrack song on Spotify in both 2018 and 2019. He is a multi-instrumentalist and producer as well as a performer, which is the unusual part of the profile in an industry that does not require its idols to write anything.
His screen record is worth reading carefully, because most of it is not acting. The bulk of the credits are variety and reality television, where he appears as himself: cooking and countryside formats, music competition panels, celebrity-lodging shows. In Korea and China that is a legitimate career rather than a consolation prize, and he is good at it, because the format rewards precisely what he has, which is fluency across several languages and no visible embarrassment.
The scripted work is smaller and later. He was a background dancer in a 2007 film before his own debut, then took supporting roles in Korean drama and in Chinese and American films. In 2018 he left SM Entertainment when his contract expired and moved to Monster Entertainment Group.

Where to start with Henry Lau
For the acting, take Oh My Venus first: a mainstream Korean romantic drama that gives him a real supporting arc rather than a cameo, and the clearest evidence that he can hold a scene.
Dramaworld is the sharper choice for anyone who already watches K-dramas, because it is a comedy about the genre's own rules and it is much stranger than its premise suggests. A Dog's Journey is the Hollywood credit, a sentimental family film that hands him a decent amount to do, and Double World is the Chinese fantasy-action end of the range.
If you want the version of him most of his audience actually knows, watch Back to Field or We Got Married. The variety shows are where the personality lives, and where the music tends to break out without warning.
