Algernon Blackwood

Algernon Henry Blackwood was an English novelist, journalist, broadcaster and one of the most prolific ghost story writers the language has produced. He spent his early adulthood in Canada and New York working a run of unglamorous jobs before returning to England to write full time, and the wilderness in his fiction is drawn from experience rather than from libraries. The critic S. T. Joshi rated his work more consistently good than any weird writer's except Dunsany's, and called the 1914 collection Incredible Adventures possibly the finest of its kind in any century. He later became a familiar storytelling voice on British radio.
