The MGM theatrical shorts

These are the original MGM theatrical shorts that made Tom and Jerry famous: the cat-and-mouse chases produced from 1940 onward, beginning with Puss Gets the Boot, where the cat was still called Jasper. Almost entirely wordless, they run on slapstick timing, elaborate household traps, and the simple, endlessly repeatable premise of a cat who never quite wins.

The best of them are small marvels of animation. The Cat Concerto stages a whole battle around a piano recital, The Invisible Mouse plays with vanishing gags, and Quiet Please! wrings an entire cartoon out of a sleeping dog. Collected here alongside a golden-era anthology, these shorts remain the definitive version of the duo, the work everything later built on.

The The MGM theatrical shorts franchise spans 1 series, 7 movies in the CrossBinge catalog.
