Kirkman comics

These are the original Walking Dead comics by Robert Kirkman and artist Charlie Adlard, the long-running black-and-white series the television franchise was built from. The volumes here, spanning the early collections through the mid-twenties and an omnibus, follow Rick Grimes and a shifting group of survivors across a world overrun by the dead, where the real threat is almost always other people.

The comics are bleaker and more unsparing than most of their adaptations, willing to kill anyone and to let the slow rebuilding of civilization curdle into fresh conflicts (the Whisperers, the wars between communities). A books-only entry, and the source that started it all.
