These are Star Trek's rebooted big-screen adventures, the trilogy that restarted the saga in 2009 by sending the franchise into an alternate timeline. Recasting Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise crew as younger, rawer versions of themselves, the films trade some of the series' philosophical patience for propulsive action and a brighter, faster tempo.
Star Trek (2009) reset the table, Into Darkness (2013) raised the stakes with a personal threat from within Starfleet, and Beyond (2016) sent the crew into uncharted space against a new enemy.
