This is the final chapter of Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear, the two-part Metal Gear Solid V. Ground Zeroes (2014) served as a short, sharp prologue; The Phantom Pain (2015) opened the series up into a vast open-world stealth game set in 1980s Afghanistan and Africa, following Big Boss as he rebuilds a private army and chases revenge. The freedom of approach, infiltrating bases however you like, was widely praised as a high point for the genre.
It is a games-only entry, and it carries the strange, divisive reputation of Kojima's late Metal Gear work: brilliant systems wrapped around a story that feels deliberately unfinished. The Definitive Experience simply bundles both halves together.
The Metal Gear Solid V franchise spans 3 games in the CrossBinge catalog.
Part of Metal Gear.
