Zabryna Guevara
Zabryna Guevara is an actor, born 1972.
New York theatre is the spine of Guevara's career, and the screen work makes more sense once you know that. In 2013 she played Yazmin in Quiara Alegria Hudes's award-winning Water by the Spoonful at Second Stage Theater, the sort of credit that carries real weight in a rehearsal room and none at all in a casting breakdown.
On television she is cast, over and over, as institutional authority: Melania Ortiz in 3 lbs, Sarah Essen in Gotham, Dora in New Amsterdam, Abby Fraiser in Emergence, Renee Garcia in Tell Me a Story. Essen is the role that reached the most people, and the job there is difficult in a way that rarely gets credited, since she has to be the one adult in a stylised city who behaves like an actual police officer with actual paperwork and still hold the screen against a cast playing at operatic volume.
Her film work is mostly small and often uncredited-adjacent, the nurse, the teacher, the executive, the government official, across Marley and Me, The Rebound, All Good Things, The Guilt Trip, She Said and Can You Ever Forgive Me?, with two exceptions worth naming: Mrs. Alvarado in Pariah and Alice in Swallow, both films that give her a real character to build. The Marvel work has been the recent through line, playing Sheila Rivera in Daredevil: Born Again and carrying the same character into Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Where to start with Zabryna Guevara
Her best screen work is Pariah, which is a small, precise film and the one that treats her as an actor rather than as a uniform. Watch that first.
Swallow is the other one worth going out of your way for, a controlled and genuinely uncomfortable psychological drama, and the best-made film on her list.
For the recognisable version, Gotham is the long run and the reason most people arrive at this page, and Daredevil: Born Again is the current one, with the same character continuing into Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
She Said and Can You Ever Forgive Me? are good films with brief appearances, and 3 lbs is the early main-cast role that almost nobody saw, worth a look if you want to see what she was being groomed for before television settled on casting her as the authority in the room.
