Whitney Port
The Hills found Port in 2006, when MTV built a series around Lauren Conrad's Los Angeles circle and cast Whitney Port as the composed one. While the show was filming she was also doing the job it was dramatising, interning at Teen Vogue and then at Kelly Cutrone's PR firm People's Revolution, which gave her storylines a spine the rest of the cast did not have: real deadlines and a real boss.
What she took out of it was a career in fashion and publishing rather than acting. She has designed, she has written a book, and her screen appearances since have mostly been as herself, including a small turn in the 2012 adaptation of What to Expect When You're Expecting where she is billed, straightforwardly, as Whitney Port.

Where to start with Whitney Port
The Hills is the only real entry point, and it is a genuinely interesting artefact now: an early, semi-scripted reality series that turned a group of twenty-somethings into a brand before anyone had a word for it. Port is the useful character in it, because she is the one with a job.
After that the pickings are thin and honest about themselves. What to Expect When You're Expecting gives her a small scene under her own name. Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model put her on the judging panel, which suits her far better than a scripted scene ever has, and Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry is a guest spot for anyone who wants the full reality-television tour.
