Tyrel Jackson Williams

Tyrel Jackson Williams is an actor, born 1997.

Tyrel Jackson Williams started where child actors start: a small named part as Jeffrey in Failure to Launch in 2006, and singing duty as Tyrone on the preschool series The Backyardigans. Disney XD then handed him a lead, Leo Dooley in Lab Rats, which ran long enough to make him a familiar face to an entire cohort of children, and followed it with the Disney XD film Pants on Fire.

The interesting part is what he did with the exit. Rather than chase another network lead, he moved into comedy with no interest in being wholesome. In Brockmire he plays Charles, the young employee attached to a spectacularly disgraced baseball announcer, and the role works because Williams underplays it. He is the sane person in the room, reacting, and the reactions land harder than the jokes being thrown at him. Party Down uses him in the same register, as Sackson.

Film has taken him more casually: Jessie in Thunder Force, Terrell in Hollywood Stargirl, Raffi Akka in The Bachelors. He also records as theMetroNorth, as a rapper, singer and producer, which is where the singing from the Backyardigans years eventually went.

Where to start with Tyrel Jackson Williams

Brockmire first. It is the best written thing on his list and the clearest look at what he is good at, which is playing straight while everyone around him escalates.

If you grew up on Disney XD, Lab Rats is the nostalgic entry and there is a great deal of it to work through. Party Down is the sharper ensemble comedy of the two, a show about caterers who would all rather be doing something else.

On film, Thunder Force and Hollywood Stargirl are the family friendly options, The Bachelors is the quiet drama, and Failure to Launch is the 2006 curio where you can spot him as a kid before any of the rest of it happened.
