Timothée Chalamet

Timothee Chalamet was born in Manhattan in 1995, holds American and French citizenship, and started on television in Homeland before a 2014 double of Men, Women & Children and a small but load-bearing role as the young Tom in Interstellar. Three years later Call Me by Your Name made him famous at twenty-one and set the terms of the early reception: slight, watchful, unusually good at letting an audience see a thought arrive before the line does.

The run that followed was smarter than most young stars manage. Lady Bird gave him a satirical portrait of a certain kind of boy. Beautiful Boy asked for addiction played without theatrics. Little Women turned Laurie into someone genuinely wounded rather than merely charming. He then took the biggest job available, Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve's Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), and held the centre of a two-part epic that is largely about the danger of a young man being told he is special.

What he has done since is refuse to settle into any of it. Wonka (2023) is a singing children's film, A Complete Unknown (2024) is a Bob Dylan biography with him performing the songs himself, and Marty Supreme (2025) is a table-tennis picture, which is not an obvious move for anybody. His films as a leading actor have grossed over 2.3 billion dollars worldwide, and his awards include a Golden Globe, two Critics' Choice awards and a Screen Actors Guild award, alongside four Academy Award nominations.
