Takuya Eguchi
Takuya Eguchi is an actor, born 1987.
Put Hachiman Hikigaya next to Takeo Goda and the range stops being an abstraction. Hachiman, in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, is a monologue engine, a teenager talking himself into cynicism at length, and Eguchi keeps him on the right side of insufferable by playing the self-justification as effort rather than swagger. Takeo, in My Love Story!!, is an enormous, sincere boy with no irony available to him at all, and the performance has none either. Loid Forger in Spy x Family sits between the two: a professional performing calm for a living.
Eguchi is with 81 Produce and has the awards to match the workload. Best New Actor at the 6th Seiyu Awards came early, then Best Lead Actor and the Most Valuable Seiyu award at the 17th, plus Best Voice Actor at the 2015 Newtype Anime Awards. In 2017 he started drawing a manga about his own life, Eguchi Takuya no Gainen Planet, for Kadokawa's Dengeki Girl's Style Online.
The rest of the list is the standard shape of a busy male lead in Japanese animation, over a hundred credits deep and heavily weighted to television. Kaoru Hanayama across Baki and Baki Hanma is the pure physical-menace slot. Souei in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and Julius in Re:Zero are the fantasy staples. Akihiko Kaji in given is the one with genuine adult mess in it, and it is the most interesting thing he has done outside the three roles above.

Where to start with Takuya Eguchi
Go to SPY x FAMILY first. Loid is the ideal introduction because the joke of the character is control, and Eguchi does the whole performance at a level, unhurried pitch that makes the panic underneath funnier. SPY x FAMILY CODE: White is the film version of the same.
Then the two extremes. My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU is wall-to-wall interior monologue, which is the hardest thing to make listenable in this medium, and he manages it. My Love Story!! is the opposite pole, played with total sincerity and no defensive irony, and it is much better than its premise suggests.
For the adult register, given is the pick: a quiet series about grief and a band, with him holding the least resolved part of it.
After that, take your genre. BAKI for the shouting, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime for the fantasy comfort watch, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- for the supporting turn, and Ranking of Kings for the prettiest show on his list.
The leads
The roles built around him. Loid in Spy x Family is the global one and Hachiman in Snafu is the cult one, and they are near opposites: a man performing warmth and a boy performing indifference.
The shonen and isekai
The long-running genre work that keeps the schedule full. The Slime series is the biggest of them and has run for years, and the rest are the supporting roles that fill the gaps between leads.
The rest
The louder half of the catalogue. Baki gives him a shouting register the other roles never ask for, and Kuroko's Basketball and Demon Slayer are the franchise appearances most viewers will have heard him in.
