Taichi Ichikawa

Taichi Ichikawa got into voice acting through radio. Listening to broadcast drama convinced him the job was worth chasing, so he took the vocational-school route into the industry, and he is now with the agency VIMS.

His breakthrough was Twenty-Fifth Bam in Tower of God, the lead of a webtoon adaptation that hands its actor an enormous amount of innocence to carry. Bam begins the story knowing nothing whatsoever about the world he has walked into, and the part lives or dies on whether that reads as sincerity rather than stupidity; it reads as sincerity. Before that came Kurogo Kurusu in Kabukibu!, a series about high-schoolers staging kabuki, and he later took the lead in World's End Harem.

What the full credit list shows, though, is the ordinary shape of a working seiyuu career. For every named lead there are several parts called Student, Nerd B, or Additional Voices, scattered across Bocchi the Rock!, Engage Kiss, Lycoris Recoil and Loner Life in Another World. That is simply how the trade functions, and his filmography is a useful corrective to the idea that voice actors climb in a straight line from small roles to big ones. He has been doing both at once for a decade.
