T. J. Klune is an author.
Travis John Klune writes fantasy and romantic fiction with gay and LGBTQ+ leads, and has said that accurate, positive queer representation in stories matters to him more than anything else in the work. The House in the Cerulean Sea (2019) is the book that broke through, a New York Times bestseller that won both the Alex Award and a Mythopoeic Award in 2021. He won the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Romance in 2014 for Into This River I Drown. Before writing full time he worked as an insurance claims examiner, which is a useful thing to know about a writer this committed to kindness.

Where to start with T. J. Klune
The house in the Cerulean Sea is the entry point and it is unashamedly warm: a bureaucrat sent to inspect an orphanage for magical children and thoroughly disarmed by the place. Under the Whispering Door is sadder and better written. Somewhere Beyond the Sea returns to the first book from another point of view. The Bones Beneath My Skin is the odd one, a road novel with an edge the others lack.
