Sarah Baker
Sarah Baker is an actor, born 1990.
Nominations, not wins, are what Sarah Baker's most talked-about roles have collected. Louie brought her a Critics' Choice Television Award nomination. The Kominsky Method, where she plays Mindy Kominsky, brought three Screen Actors Guild nominations. Both are television, which is where her reputation lives, and both are supporting parts in shows built around a difficult man.
Her particular skill is unbothered competence with a dry undercut, the person in the scene who has already priced in everyone else's nonsense. It is the reason she gets recalled: her Young Sheldon character, Sheryl Hutchins, was brought back years later for the spinoff Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, which almost never happens to a supporting comic role.
The film credits are a long list of studio comedies where she gets one good beat and takes it: The Campaign, Tammy, Life of the Party, Thunder Force, Superintelligence, Rock the Kasbah, A Simple Favor, Mascots. The Death of Dick Long, where she plays Officer Dudley, is the outlier worth knowing about, a much stranger film than the rest.
Then there is the sitcom graveyard, and it is genuinely instructive. A to Z, Married, Go On, Ghosted, Great News, I Feel Bad, Sean Saves the World, The Crazy Ones, Free Radio, Kath & Kim: Baker is the actress networks hire to make a brand new sitcom feel like it has been running for three years, and most of those are shows you need reminding existed. Animation has been steadier, with recurring runs on Bob's Burgers as Ms. Selbo and The Great North as Chief Edna.

Where to start with Sarah Baker
Watch Louie first. It is the smallest sample and the clearest one, a small role in someone else's show that drew a Critics' Choice nomination, which tells you how much she got out of very little.
Then The Kominsky Method for the sustained version, three SAG nominations across a part built on managing somebody else's ego. If you want her range as a comic ensemble player rather than a foil, Big Little Lies puts her in a straight drama and The Death of Dick Long puts her in something genuinely odd.
Her animation work is the easiest to keep up with: Bob's Burgers and The Great North both give her recurring characters that suit the flat, unhurried delivery she does better in voice than on camera.
Skip the studio comedies unless you already like them. A Simple Favor is the best of that batch and even there she is only a supporting presence.
The prestige television
Louie is the essential credit for a single episode and one extraordinary monologue about being a fat woman trying to date. The Kominsky Method gave her three SAG nominations and the best sustained part.
The sitcoms and the animation
The steady work: multi-camera sitcoms on one side and animation on the other. Young Sheldon and its spin-off are the long run, and Bob's Burgers and The Great North are where the voice work lives.
The films
Supporting comedy, generally one or two scenes that she makes memorable. The Campaign was the breakthrough, Mascots is the Christopher Guest film, and A Simple Favor is the biggest of them.
