Where to start with Robin Hobb
Start with Assassin's Apprentice, full stop. It is the first Farseer book, it is slow in the way that pays off, and the whole Elderlings sequence is built to be read in publication order from there. Assassin's Quest closes that first trilogy. Ship of Magic begins the Liveship Traders, which many readers rate highest of the lot. Fool's Errand (Tawny Man, Book 1) returns to Fitz years later. Alien Earth is her science fiction under the Lindholm name.
