Reina Ueda
Reina Ueda is an actor, born 1994.
She began voice work in 2012 and got her first lead two years later, as Naru Sekiya in Hanayamata. In 2015 that run brought her one of the Best New Actress prizes at the 9th Seiyu Awards. She is from Toyama Prefecture and works out of the agency 81 Produce, and the catalogue here already lists roughly 150 credits, which tells you how the Japanese voice industry works: constant, overlapping, one show ending as three more begin.
Her specialty is the quiet one. Ueda's default instrument is a soft, slightly breathy voice that other performers would use for shyness and she uses for pressure, so her characters tend to sound like people holding something in. Miyo Saimori in My Happy Marriage is the purest example, an abused young woman whose politeness is a survival tactic. Kanao Tsuyuri in Demon Slayer works on the same principle, a swordfighter who barely speaks and has to convey everything in the gaps. Kisa Soma in Fruits Basket, a girl who stops speaking altogether for a stretch, sits in the same family.
The range shows up when she is cast against that. Gigi Andalucia in Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway is coy and manipulative, Reze in the Chainsaw Man film pulls her well away from the type, and Ayumu carries the disaster series Japan Sinks: 2020 with none of the softness available to her. She also voices Mallow in the Sun and Moon run of Pokemon, credited under the character's Japanese name Mao, plus Methode in Frieren and Hemimorphite in Land of the Lustrous. She sings too, and released a mini-album in 2016.

Where to start with Reina Ueda
Put My Happy Marriage first, because it is the showcase. The whole series rests on whether you believe a young woman who has been taught not to want anything, and Ueda plays that without a drop of self-pity, so the small victories land hard.
For the opposite reading of the same voice, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway is the pick: Gigi is all strategy under a girlish register, and it is the most fun she sounds anywhere. Japan Sinks: 2020 is the hardest watch and the strongest straight dramatic lead she has had.
If you came from the big shonen titles, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is the obvious route in, though Kanao gives her very little dialogue to work with early on. The Dangers in My Heart is the gentle comedy pick and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End the prestige one, both of them supporting parts. Land of the Lustrous is the strangest thing on the list and worth it on its own merits.
The big recent series
Kanao in Demon Slayer barely speaks for a season and communicates by coin toss, which is a hard thing to play with a voice alone. The rest are the largest productions of the last few years.
The romantic leads
The register the voice is most naturally suited to, and My Happy Marriage is the best showcase: a young woman so used to being treated badly that kindness is what finally breaks her.
The isekai work
The volume end of the career, where a busy voice actress in the 2020s spends a lot of her time. These are variable in quality and she is consistently better than most of them require.
The strange ones
Where the soft delivery gets used against the audience. Land of the Lustrous and Takopi's Original Sin are both far bleaker than their character designs suggest, and she is central to why they land.
