Rafer Weigel
Weigel acts on this page and reads the news everywhere else. He is an American broadcast journalist whose main work has been in Chicago television, most recently as an early-morning weekday anchor and general assignment reporter at WFLD, and before that the weekend sports anchor and reporter at WLS-TV. He also spent time as the sports anchor on CNN HLN's Morning Express with Robin Meade.
The acting was a Los Angeles interval and the credits date it precisely: three network sitcoms across the second half of the nineties and the early 2000s, Boston Common, Jenny and Good Morning, Miami, plus two features. The sitcom parts are boyfriend-and-colleague roles, the casting that goes to a presentable presenter type, and there is a neat coincidence buried in Good Morning, Miami, a comedy set inside a morning news programme, given where he ended up.

Good Morning, Miami is the most entertaining context, a sitcom about the making of a morning news show, and worth a curious half hour given the career he returned to afterwards. Boston Common and Jenny are nineties network comedies that came and went, and are chiefly interesting now as artefacts of that block of television. Rated X is the outlier and a much darker piece of work than anything else on the list. The broadcasting is the real career; the acting was the detour.
