Peta Sergeant
Peta Sergeant is an actor, born 1980.
Australian television gave Peta Sergeant her first substantial part, and American genre television gave her a type. Born in Penang, Malaysia and raised in Australia, she played Heather across the drama series Satisfaction from 2007, then landed in the science-fiction comedy Iron Sky in 2012 as Vivian Wagner, a public-relations operator who treats an invasion as a campaign opportunity.
The type she settled into is worth naming, because casting directors clearly agree on it: she plays people who enjoy holding leverage. The Jabberwocky in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland does her damage by knowing exactly what you are afraid of. Francesca in The Originals is a family power broker operating in a city run by monsters. The magical imp Nyxly in Supergirl is played with visible pleasure at her own mischief. Julia in Snowfall works a colder, quieter room. Each of them is a step ahead of the scene, and Sergeant plays that without ever smirking about it.

Where to start with Peta Sergeant
The best single hour of her work is probably in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, where the Jabberwocky turns up late and immediately makes the series more dangerous than it had been. If you would rather have the full arc, Supergirl gives her the largest and loosest part on this page, and she plays the imp as somebody having a far better time than the heroes.
Prefer films? Iron Sky is the cult item, a broad science-fiction comedy in which she is one of the sharpest things on screen. The Originals is the soapiest option and rewards a viewer already invested in that world, while Snowfall is the serious drama on the list and uses her most quietly.
