Page Kennedy

Page Kennedy has had two careers running at once and only one of them is acting. The screen work started in the early 2000s with the parts a physically imposing young actor got offered then: Travis in S.W.A.T., Jamie in Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, a security guard in Dance Flick, Big Trickey on the Barbershop series. Then Weeds cast him as U-Turn, a role not among the credits listed here, and Blue Mountain State gave him Radon Randell, which turned him into a cult figure for a college-football-comedy audience that never really dispersed. He came back as Radon for the 2016 film.

Meanwhile he built an audience himself. He was one of the biggest names on Vine, which for a working actor in the mid 2010s was a genuinely new lever: he could deliver a crowd without a network's permission. He is also a rapper, and Torn Pages in 2017 was a full-length album with Royce da 5'9", Crooked I and Trick Trick on it.

The film that reached the most people is The Meg, where he plays DJ, and he returned for Meg 2: The Trench. It is a shark movie and he is funny in it, which is the entire assignment. Recent television has been steadier and better suited to him: Duck on The Upshaws, Gerald on the Rush Hour series, Officer Moto on Backstrom. The pattern across twenty years is consistent, and it is a real thing to be good at: he plays the man who says the obvious thing out loud, at volume, while everyone else is being polite.
