Olga Tokarczuk
Olga Tokarczuk is an author.
Olga Nawoja Tokarczuk is a Polish novelist, essayist and public intellectual, and the most internationally successful Polish writer of her generation. She was awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature for a narrative imagination that represents the crossing of boundaries as a form of life, and took the 2018 Man Booker International Prize for Flights. Her books rarely behave like novels: Flights is assembled from fragments, The Books of Jacob runs backwards through its page numbers, and Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead is an astrology-obsessed thriller. She is politically outspoken at home, which has cost her.

Where to start with Olga Tokarczuk
The friendliest way in is Prowadź swój pług przez kości umarłych, a village mystery narrated by an elderly woman who reads horoscopes and dislikes hunters. Bieguni is the one that won the Booker, a mosaic about travel and anatomy that you can read in almost any order. Prawiek i inne czasy is the warmest of them. Leave Księgi Jakubowe for later; it is enormous, and better once you trust her.
