Nick Rutherford
Nick Rutherford is an actor, born 1985.
Sketch is the throughline. Rutherford is a founding member of Good Neighbor, the comedy group whose videos moved from the internet to network television, and he has written for Saturday Night Live, which is where that pipeline usually terminates.
Writing has been the larger half of the career. He works as a writer and producer on Rick and Morty, a show whose voice is assembled in the room rather than the booth, and his on-camera work is mostly small, precisely drawn comic parts: Visor in The Kings of Summer, Lenjamin Caine in Blood Fest, Ted Jr. in Robots, Max in Drugstore June, a fan of the fictional show in Brigsby Bear.
The exception is Dream Corp LLC, where he plays Patient 88 across the Adult Swim series. It is the one part built around him rather than dropped past him, and it uses the thing he is genuinely good at: playing a man politely failing to notice how bad his situation has become.
The credits listed here are thin for someone whose fingerprints are on a lot of television. That is what a writer's career looks like from the outside.

Where to start with Nick Rutherford
Go to Dream Corp LLC first, the only place he gets a whole series to work with. Patient 88 is a passive lead, which sounds like a flaw and is in fact the joke: everything happens to him and he keeps being reasonable about it.
After that, watch him as a writer rather than a performer. Rick and Morty is where most of his professional life has gone, and knowing he is in that room changes how the loose, less plot-driven episodes read.
The film appearances are bit parts, so sample rather than study. The Kings of Summer is the best film of the group by a distance, Brigsby Bear the one closest to his own comic sensibility, and Drugstore June and Blood Fest are for completists only.
