Mike Tyson
Mike Tyson is an actor, born 1966.
Tyson turned professional in 1985 and reigned as undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990, which is the fact every one of his screen roles is quietly leaning on. The nicknames came with the record: Iron Mike, Kid Dynamite, later the Baddest Man on the Planet. Accounts of when he actually stopped competing do not agree, and he was still stepping into a ring in 2024 for the Jake Paul bout. He also runs a cannabis business now, which tells you something about how far the public image has travelled.
His acting career runs almost entirely on that history. Directors rarely ask him to become someone else. They cast the audience's memory of him and let it do the work, which is why he is usually billed as Mike Tyson. The Hangover is the template and the reason the second career exists: he underplays it completely, treating an absurd situation as a minor domestic matter, and the joke lands because he refuses to signal it. Rocky Balboa and Grudge Match use him the same way, as a face that certifies a boxing story as genuine.
The exception is Ip Man 3, where he plays a character called Frank and is handed a real fight to carry rather than a punchline. He created and voiced Mike Tyson Mysteries, which turns the self-parody into a weekly format, and he has taken small heavies in low-budget action pictures such as Kickboxer: Retaliation and Vendetta. The documentaries are where he is most worth watching: Tyson and Untold: Deal with the Devil put him on camera as a subject rather than a bit, and he is a far stranger and more articulate presence there.

Where to start with Mike Tyson
Start with Tyson. It is the only place on this list where he is asked to explain himself at length, and the contrast with the cameo persona is the whole story of his second career. Untold: Deal with the Devil covers similar ground with more distance, and Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is the strange late coda.
For the acting, The Hangover first, because everything after it is a variation. Then Ip Man 3, the one film that uses him as a fighter rather than a reference, and Mike Tyson Mysteries, which he created and voiced and which is funnier than a cartoon built on a cameo career has any right to be. Rocky Balboa and Grudge Match are for completists: he is there to make the ring look legitimate, and he does.
