Mercedes Mason is an actor, born 1983.
Born in Sweden and working in the United States, Mercedes Mason came up through the kind of American television that rarely makes a star but keeps very good actors employed. She was Zondra in Chuck and Isabel Zambada in the procedural The Finder, neither of which is among the credits listed here, and she took a horror lead in Quarantine 2: Terminal in 2011 before landing Louise Leonard in the supernatural drama 666 Park Avenue.
Casting has since settled on what she is: the competent professional who holds a room. Talia Del Campo on NCIS: Los Angeles, Captain Zoe Andersen on The Rookie from 2018, Elena Garcia on Doubt, plus a sniper picture and a medical drama. She plays authority without stiffness, which is rarer than it sounds, and the reason is that she listens on camera instead of waiting for her line.
Fear the Walking Dead is the exception and the best argument for her. As a series regular from 2015 to 2017 she had two years of continuous story as Ofelia Salazar rather than a case of the week, and the difference in what she could build is obvious. Since then she has moved between network work and independents such as Little Dixie and Guns & Moses.

Begin with Fear the Walking Dead, where she was a regular from 2015 to 2017 and got the longest arc anyone has written for her, with room to change rather than simply react.
If a procedural suits you better, The Rookie is the strongest showcase of the authority mode and NCIS: Los Angeles is the same register in a smaller frame. Quarantine 2: Terminal is worth a look for anyone who likes contained horror, since she carries most of it. 666 Park Avenue is the enjoyable oddity, a supernatural drama that ran across 2012 and 2013 and clearly wanted more time. Little Dixie represents the quieter recent work.
