Mary Mouser is an actor, born 1996.
Mary Mouser has been on screen since childhood without ever hitting the wall that usually stops child actors. Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 1996, she started in voice work and family films: Marmalade on Chowder, Baby Delgo in Delgo, background voices in Monster House, a dinosaur ID card in Walking with Dinosaurs, and the title character in the animated Eloise. Then came Lacey Fleming on Body of Proof and, later, Karen Grant on Scandal.
Cobra Kai is the job that made her. She plays Samantha LaRusso, daughter of the original Karate Kid, and the part is a genuinely awkward assignment: the show needs her to be the moral centre of a story about escalating teenage violence while also participating in it. Mouser plays the contradiction rather than smoothing it, which is why Sam remains watchable through several seasons of increasingly silly plotting. She handles the tournament choreography and the high-school social warfare in the same episode without either feeling like a different show.

Where to start with Mary Mouser
Almost everyone arrives through Cobra Kai, and there is no reason to pretend otherwise. Give it a season before judging her performance, because Sam starts as the show's obligation and turns into one of the few characters with a consistent internal logic.
Body of Proof is the child-actor work and is genuinely good, a procedural that used her as a real character rather than a plot device. Room 104 is the outlier worth an hour: a self-contained anthology episode that asks for something much stranger than anything else here. Freakish is cheap teen horror and she is better than it. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and Code Black fill in the mainstream side, and Chowder is the earliest voice work if you want to hear where she started.
