Mark Consuelos
Mark Consuelos is an actor, born 1971.
Zaragoza to American daytime television is not the usual route into a primetime career. Consuelos was born in the first and made his name in the second, playing Mateo Santos on the ABC soap All My Children. He now co-hosts the talk show Live with Kelly and Mark with his wife, Kelly Ripa, so daytime television brackets the entire career.
Hiram Lodge on Riverdale, from 2017 to 2023, is the part that reintroduced him to everyone else, and it works because he underplays it. Hiram has already decided how the conversation ends and is waiting politely for the other person to catch up. Consuelos does the threat in the pauses and the charm in the smile, and almost never raises his voice, which in a show pitched that high is a genuine tactical choice. He carried the character across to the spin-off Katy Keene.
Film has used him as functional support: Reuben Quintana in A Walk Among the Tombstones, Manuel in Cop Out, Steve Velard in My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Cpl. Guttierez in The Great Raid. Television has done better, usually casting him as a smooth operator with something underneath, from Senator Andy Guzman in Alpha House to Oscar Arguella in Pitch, Chapas in Kingdom and Cain Diaz in The Night Shift. Scream 7 drops him into a horror franchise in 2026.
It is a very specific and very American career: a soap lead who kept working, landed one excellent villain in middle age, and converted the rest into a chair behind a desk with his name on it.

Where to start with Mark Consuelos
One performance carries this page, and it is Hiram Lodge in Riverdale. Watch the first season for the arrival and the way he refuses to play the part loud, then dip into Katy Keene only if you want to see the same character in a lighter house style.
Outside that, the useful thing is the pre-Riverdale television. Alpha House is the sharpest of it, a political comedy that lets him play a senator whose confidence is entirely surface. Pitch gives him a decent supporting turn in a show that deserved a longer run.
Film is where expectations should drop. A Walk Among the Tombstones is the best movie he is in, though the part is small, and The Great Raid is a solid war picture with him in the ensemble. Scream 7 is the 2026 wild card.
Riverdale and television
Hiram Lodge is the role and Riverdale is a show that rewarded going bigger, which he clearly understood. All My Children is where the career started and where he met his wife.
The films
The film work is mostly supporting and mostly comedy. A Walk Among the Tombstones is the best of them and the only one that asks him to be genuinely frightening, and the rest are studio comedies.
The recent work
Co-hosting a daytime talk show with his wife is a career shape essentially no other working actor has, and he has kept acting alongside it. Scream 7 is the upcoming horror and Alpha House the good political comedy.
