La La Anthony
La La Anthony is an actor, born 1979.
Anthony came up through music television. She was an MTV VJ on Total Request Live in the early 2000s, when that show set the temperature of American pop for an hour every afternoon, then hosted the VH1 reunion specials for Flavor of Love, I Love New York, For the Love of Ray J and Real Chance of Love, and served as a dean on Charm School alongside Ricki Lake. Hosting reality television is a real skill: keep nine people talking, stay likeable, never lose the room. She was very good at it.
Acting came later and the results are uneven, which she would probably not dispute. There is a lot of small work here, a friend in Think Like a Man and its sequel, a colleague in Baggage Claim, a few scenes in You People and The Perfect Find. The exception is Power. Lakeisha Grant begins as a supporting fixture and grows into one of the show's most volatile figures, and Anthony met the material as it got harder rather than coasting on the profile that got her the job.
Crime drama has kept her busy since, with Markisha Taylor in BMF and Tracey Waples in Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and she is still a fixture of the celebrity ecosystem she started in, including The Kardashians.

Where to start with La La Anthony
The reason to be here is Power. Lakeisha starts as a best friend with no plot attached and finishes with a great deal of it, and the show gives Anthony the long runway that television is uniquely good at. Begin at the first season, not at her big episodes.
BMF is the natural follow-up, a family crime drama with better period detail than it gets credit for. Wu-Tang: An American Saga is the more ambitious of the two, though her Tracey Waples sits on the industry side rather than in the group.
At the lighter end, Think Like a Man is the comfortable Friday night option and The Perfect Find is the polished romantic comedy. Chi-Raq is the swing: Spike Lee doing Lysistrata in verse, worth seeing whether or not it lands for you.
