Kyle Richards

Kyle Richards is an actor, born 1969.

Richards was a child actor before she was anything else, and she was in a remarkable number of things. Little House on the Prairie, an uncredited turn in Escape to Witch Mountain, Angie in the 1976 horror picture Eaten Alive, Debra in The Car in 1977, and then Halloween in 1978 as Lindsey.

That last one is why this page gets traffic. She is the kid on the couch on the other side of the street, and John Carpenter's film uses her the way it uses the audience: she is the one being told nothing is wrong. She came back for Halloween II in 1981, appeared in The Watcher in the Woods, and then the acting work thinned out for a long stretch.

The second act is television, and it is not acting. Since 2010 she has been a main cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and per Wikipedia she is the last remaining original full-time cast member on the show, which is its own kind of endurance. That visibility fed back into the horror career in a way nobody would have predicted: forty years after Halloween II, the franchise revival brought Lindsey back as an adult in Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. Small parts in comedies such as The Hungover Games and Beautiful Wedding fill in the rest.

Where to start with Kyle Richards

Halloween first, and not only because it is the famous one. Watching it with Lindsey in mind changes the film: Carpenter keeps cutting to a child who is being reassured, and the tension is built out of what she has not been told.

Then jump straight to Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, where the same character comes back four decades later carrying the whole night with her. That leap is the most interesting thing on her list. Halloween II fills the gap if you want the continuity. Away from the franchise, Eaten Alive and The Watcher in the Woods are the 1970s and 1980s horror curios, both wilder than their reputations. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is the other career entirely, and you already know whether you want it.
