Kieran Bew
Kieran Bew is an actor, born 1980.
Kieran Bew is the kind of actor British television relies on and rarely puts on a poster. Born in Hartlepool in 1980, he had early screen bits in AVP: Alien vs. Predator as Klaus in 2004 and Green Street Hooligans as Ike in 2005, and is known for Gary Parr in Jimmy McGovern's BAFTA-winning drama The Street, opposite Matt Smith. That role is not among the credits listed here.
His useful quality is physical credibility. Bew looks like a man who could actually do the job, whatever the job is, and directors have used that to skip a lot of exposition: DI Jack Burns in WPC 56, Ian Davis in Liar, DI Mike Sutherland in Rellik, a clerk on a train in The Bletchley Circle. He has also had a run at outright leading parts, playing the title role in Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands and Alfonso, Duke of Calabria in Da Vinci's Demons.
The two roles most people will know him from now are Officer Big Bill O'Hara in Warrior, a period martial-arts series in which nearly everyone else can out-fight him, and Hugh in House of the Dragon. Both parts want the same thing from him: a large man with visible history behind the eyes who is not the smartest person in the room and knows it. He is very good at exactly that, and it is a narrower gift than a lead career would need.

Where to start with Kieran Bew
Start with Warrior, which gives him the most screen time and the best-written version of his standard character: a big man with a badge and no good options. It is also simply the most entertaining show on this list.
House of the Dragon is the biggest stage he has been given and the place most viewers will recognise him from now, though the part is a slow burn. For the British crime work, Rellik is the formally strange one, told in a structure that runs against the grain, and Liar is the more conventional thriller. Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands is the swing at fantasy leading man, uneven but worth a look for how he carries it. Green Street Hooligans and WPC 56 are the early credits, useful mostly for tracing the line.
