Kelli Giddish
Kelli Giddish is an actor, born 1980.
Two network leads inside two years, both cancelled almost at once, and then a job that lasted more than a decade. Kelli Giddish, born in Cumming, Georgia in 1980, played Dr. Kate McGinn in Past Life in 2010 and Annie Nolan Frost in Chase across 2010 and 2011, and neither series survived. Before that she had served the standard soap-opera apprenticeship as Di Henry in All My Children, which is not among the credits listed here.
Then came Amanda Rollins on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, a role she has played since 2011. Long-running procedurals reward a skill that has nothing to do with big scenes: making a character's private life legible in the gaps of a case-of-the-week structure, so that a viewer who arrived for the crime ends up following the person. Giddish is good at that, and the part accumulated a weight over the years that the pilot never promised.
The film credits are few and small, a young mother in Death in Love in 2008 and Tiny in Breathless in 2012. This is a television career, and there is nothing to apologise for in that: the medium she works in is the one that hands a performer a character to develop across a decade instead of a part to deliver across six weeks.

Where to start with Kelli Giddish
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is the only real answer, and the useful question is where to enter. Her first seasons from 2011 have Rollins at her most abrasive and the later ones have her at her most rounded, so start from the beginning of her run rather than dropping in at random. For the road not taken, Chase is a fast, disposable manhunt procedural in which she leads and is obviously capable of it, while Past Life is the odder of her two cancelled series and never found its footing. Breathless is a small independent film with a genuinely nasty streak, and The Paley Center Salutes Law & Order: SVU is a clips-and-panel retrospective for people already invested.
