Where to start with Jovan Adepo
Begin at the beginning: Fences. It is the performance everything else gets measured against, and watching a debut hold that much ground is the fastest way to understand why he kept working.
Watchmen is the essential second stop, a role he treats with complete seriousness inside a show that could easily have let him play it big. Follow with 3 Body Problem, where he is the most human character in a series full of concepts.
For film, Overlord is the pulpiest and most purely enjoyable thing here, an action horror picture with a real lead performance in it, and Babylon gives him the single best sequence in a very long film. His Three Daughters is the quiet one and the best acted.
The Leftovers and When They See Us complete the television case, both heavy going and both worth it.
