Joe Abercrombie
Joe Abercrombie is an author.
Joseph Edward Abercrombie is an English fantasy novelist and a film editor by trade, which shows in how his books are cut. He wrote The First Law trilogy and its sequel trilogy, The Age of Madness, plus standalones set in the same world and a young adult trilogy. Half a King won the 2015 Locus Award for best young adult book, and he holds a Locus for best novelette as well. His reputation rests on dialogue, on characters who are worse than they think they are, and on a running argument with the idea that fantasy heroism means anything.

Where to start with Joe Abercrombie
The Blade Itself is where to start, and be patient: the first half is setup, the payoff is Glokta and the last hundred pages. Best served cold is the best standalone, a revenge tour with a body count and a sense of humour about it. The Heroes is the formal experiment, one battle over three days, and the sharpest writing he has done. A Little Hatred restarts the world a generation later.
