Ji-young Yoo
Ji-young Yoo is an actor, born 1999.
Two names sit on the same short filmography. She was credited as SunHee Seo, her birth name, in the 2021 Netflix comedy Moxie, and adopted Ji-young Yoo in the same year, choosing Korean syllables she thought English speakers would find easier to say. Denver-born, she has worked almost entirely in American productions since.
The parts have moved fast from background to load-bearing. Sarah in The Sky Is Everywhere is the best-friend role. Mercy in Expats is not: the Amazon series hands her its most demanding thread, an outsider in Hong Kong carrying a guilt the show refuses to let her put down. Three 2025 releases followed in completely different registers, Tina in the Oakland anthology Freaky Tales, Megan in the horror film Until Dawn, and the voice of Zoey in the animated hit KPop Demon Hunters.
That is a six-credit career with an unusually wide spread, and the through-line so far is that directors trust her with characters who are alone in the frame.

Where to start with Ji-young Yoo
Go to Expats for the acting. Mercy is the hardest part in the series and the one it keeps circling back to, and Yoo plays her without asking to be liked, which most young actors cannot resist doing. Watch that first and the rest of the CV makes sense.
KPop Demon Hunters is the opposite pole and the reason many people know the name at all, a voice role in a very loud animated film that she plays with real comic timing. Until Dawn is a mixed horror picture in which she is comfortably the most watchable element, and Freaky Tales gives her one segment of an anthology to make an impression in.
Leave Moxie and The Sky Is Everywhere for last. They are decent teen films and she is good in both, but they are the before picture.
