Himesh Patel is an actor, born 1990.
Nine years in EastEnders is an unusual apprenticeship. Himesh Jitendra Patel, born in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire in 1990, played Tamwar Masood from 2007 to 2016, joining as a teenager and leaving in his mid-twenties: a soap shoots fast, forgives nothing, and teaches an actor to be watchable while doing very little. He followed it with the Channel 4 sitcom Damned (2016 to 2018).
The break came with Yesterday (2019), where he carries an entire high-concept comedy as Jack Malik, a failing musician. It is a demanding lead disguised as a soft one, since the film only works if you believe both that he is ordinary and that he could hold a stadium, and Patel manages the second without ever losing the first. Station Eleven (2021) is the better performance and the one that got him a Primetime Emmy nomination: as Jeevan Chaudhary he plays exhaustion, improvised decency and low-grade panic across a decade of story time, and does most of it without raising his voice.
Since then he has become the actor big films call when they need a supporting character the audience will trust immediately. Mahir in Tenet, Phillip in Don't Look Up, Dr. Watson to Enola Holmes twice over, John Trew in The Aeronauts, Jordan Hatwal in Avenue 5, Emery Staines in The Luminaries, Keith in the animated The Amazing Maurice, plus Good Grief, Greedy People and The Assessment. He plays Eurylochus in The Odyssey. It is a career built on being the most credible person in the frame rather than the loudest.

Where to start with Himesh Patel
Take Station Eleven first, even though Yesterday is the famous one. It gives him the widest possible span, from the opening night of a collapse to the long aftermath, and Patel plays a man who keeps making the next reasonable decision because there is nothing else to do. That is very hard to make watchable and he does it for ten episodes.
Yesterday is the charm offensive and worth it for the central performance rather than the plot mechanics. The Luminaries is the underseen one, a period mystery where he is the emotional anchor in a very tangled structure.
For the supporting run, Tenet uses him best of the blockbusters, since Nolan gives him the thankless job of explaining the film and he makes the exposition sound like a man thinking. Don't Look Up and Enola Holmes 2 are the crowd-pleasers, The Assessment is the strangest, and The Odyssey is the biggest swing.
