Hideyuki Hori
Hideyuki Hori is an actor, born 1954.
Hideyuki Hori, born Hidemitsu Hori, is a stage name that has been on Japanese animation credits since the early eighties: Armored Fleet Dairugger XV, Lady Georgie, Aishite Knight, Blue Comet SPT Layzner, Odin. His older brother Yukitoshi Hori is also a voice actor, and Hori works at Aoni Production.
Saint Seiya arrived in 1986 and gave him Ikki, the Phoenix, and the rest of that decade belonged to the character: the television series plus four films between 1987 and 1989, and a return for Heaven Chapter: Overture in 2004. Ikki set the template for what Hori is repeatedly hired to do. He plays the older brother, the rival, the one who turns up late and angry, with a voice that can move from flat contempt to a full-throated shout without bothering with the intermediate stages. Hyunckel in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, Schwarz Bruder in Mobile Fighter G Gundam and Kaede Rukawa in Slam Dunk 2 are variations on the same instrument.
He has done a great deal of work that is not shonen at all: Sakuragi in Perfect Blue, Nobuo Tanaka in Memories, Gren in Darkside Blues, Sid in Ai no Kusabi, Masamune Date in Mirage of Blaze, George Glenn in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Shuji Ikutsuki across the three Persona 3 films. Outside animation he is a familiar voice in games, including the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series, neither of which is among the credits listed here.

Where to start with Hideyuki Hori
Saint Seiya is unavoidable and it should be first. Ikki is the role, and the series is where you hear the trick that defined the career: an entrance that reorders the scene before the sentence has finished. The films extend it, and Saint Seiya: Legend of Crimson Youth is the best of them.
For the serious work, Perfect Blue is the finest film he has been in by some distance, and Memories is the one to follow it with. Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai gives Hyunckel a full arc and is the purest example of his rival register. Mobile Fighter G Gundam is the loudest thing here and better for it. If you want the later mode, the Persona3 THE MOVIE #1 Spring of Birth trilogy has him playing a very different kind of authority, and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED uses him sparingly and well.
