Gillian Vigman

Gillian Vigman came up through sketch, as a recurring cast member on MADtv, and through commercials, including a long stint as Jack Box's wife in the Jack in the Box campaign. That combination explains her screen career fairly well. She is a comic actor with a stock company's range who has spent twenty years being the funniest thing in five minutes of somebody else's film.

Her lane is the woman who has correctly assessed the situation and has stopped pretending otherwise. As Stephanie across all three Hangover films she plays Phil's wife, largely on the other end of a phone call, and gets far more mileage out of exasperation than the script supplies. The same instinct powers small parts in The 40 Year Old Virgin, Step Brothers, Date Night and The Holdovers.

Television has given her the steadier work: Sons & Daughters, recurring turns in Suburgatory and New Girl, and since 2020 the voice of Dr. T'Ana on Star Trek: Lower Decks, which is the largest role of her career by a wide margin. She writes as well, which is usually how performers in this bracket end up with careers this durable.
