Eric Bauza

Eric Bauza holds one of the strangest jobs in American entertainment: he is Bugs Bunny. He is also Daffy Duck, Tweety, Marvin the Martian, Speedy Gonzales and Pepe Le Pew, which means one Canadian voice actor, born in Toronto in 1979, currently performs most of a roster that Mel Blanc once did alone.

The reason it works is that he is not doing impressions. Bauza plays the characters as characters, with the timing and the sarcasm intact, rather than reproducing a sound, and the difference shows most in the newer shorts where the writing gets closer to the original 1940s cruelty. He has three Emmy Awards for that work, across Looney Tunes Cartoons, Bugs Bunny Builders and Teen Titans Go.

Before Warner Bros. he did the standard grind of North American animation: Stimpy in the Ren and Stimpy revival, White Pantera on El Tigre, Foop on The Fairly OddParents, the Beagle Boys on DuckTales, Puss in Boots for Netflix, Baby Fozzie on Muppet Babies. He also picks up Woody Woodpecker, Boo-Boo Bear and the Lego version of Luke Skywalker, which is a fair summary of how the classic-character business now works: a handful of specialists hold the entire back catalogue between them.

The credit list is enormous and almost nobody knows the name attached to it, which is the deal voice actors have always made.
