Diana Krall is a Canadian jazz pianist and singer, born in Nanaimo in 1964 into a musical family, who was playing in restaurants at fifteen and studied at Berklee on a scholarship. Ray Brown heard her and told her to move to Los Angeles. She is a genuine pianist first, which distinguishes her from most singers in the standards revival, and the contralto is unusually low and unhurried. She has sold more than fifteen million albums and is married to Elvis Costello.

Where to start with Diana Krall
The Look of Love is the lush orchestral one and the biggest seller, which makes it the easiest way in. Love Scenes is the earlier trio record and much the better demonstration of the playing. De-Lovely is the Cole Porter film she appears in, and Anything Else is the Woody Allen credit.
