David Goggins

David Goggins is an author.

David Goggins is an American athlete, author and motivational speaker, a retired United States Navy SEAL and a former Air Force JTAC. He is an ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist and triathlete, and was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2019 for both his athletic record and his military service. His memoir Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds was a New York Times bestseller and turned him into one of the most quoted figures in the endurance and self-discipline world. The books are built on the same material: an unhappy, overweight young man who rebuilt himself by choosing the harder option every time.

Where to start with David Goggins

Can't Hurt Me is the one, and the only one most readers need: the account of the weight, the three attempts at SEAL training and the running is genuinely startling, even if the philosophy around it gets repetitive. Never Finished is the sequel and covers similar ground with more interior detail. Built Not Born is the workbook version, useful only if you want the exercises.
