Danny Sapani
Danny Sapani is an actor, born 1970.
Sapani's filmography starts quietly and stays local for a decade: a part in the 2001 film Hotel, the ITV action series Ultimate Force from 2002, then years of the British television supporting work that pays a rent without building a name.
What turned it around was a run of roles that all want the same uncommon quality, authority that never has to raise its voice. He played Sembene in Penny Dreadful, General Simon Nyamoya in Black Earth Rising, the politician Moise Tshombe in The Siege of Jadotville, and a Border Tribe elder in both Black Panther films. Directors keep putting him in the room where someone has to be the immovable object, and he never oversells the part. He also turns up in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Halo gave him the load-bearing role he had not had before, Jacob Keyes, carried across the series from 2022 to 2024. Around it the mix has stayed deliberately wide: Jamie in Killing Eve, William North in the period drama Harlots, Nate in the heist thriller Trance, the Welsh drama The Way in 2024, and the Tamil action sequel Singam 2 back in 2013, which is not a line most London character actors have.
The recent film work arrives at a steady clip, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare in 2024 and The Amateur in 2025, and it is still supporting work. That is the career, and he is very good at it.

Where to start with Danny Sapani
Start with Black Earth Rising. It gives him more to do than anything else here, a general with a past and a great deal of composure, and it is the clearest demonstration of why he keeps getting cast as men other men listen to.
For the same register at feature length, The Siege of Jadotville puts him opposite a besieged Irish garrison as a real historical figure and lets him play politics rather than menace. Halo is the volume pick if you want to watch him lead. Penny Dreadful is the atmospheric one, Killing Eve the sly one, and Misfits is worth a look purely to see how early the presence was already there.
Save Black Panther for last. It is the role most people know him from and the least representative of what he can do.
