Cristina Rodlo
Cristina Rodlo is an actor, born 1990.
Rodlo built the first half of her career in Spanish-language television, including a long run as Isabel Urrutia Zavaleta across 93 episodes of Vuelve Temprano and a stretch on El Vato, before the English-language work started arriving. That order matters: she came to American screens already able to carry a series, which is not the usual route.
The casting pattern since is uniform enough to be worth naming. She keeps playing people inside institutions that do not much care about them. Corporal Talia Perez in Halo and Sergeant Rosa Alvarez in the army-medic drama 68 Whiskey are both uniforms; Luz Ojeda in The Terror and Suzu in the 2019 Miss Bala are both women caught in machinery somebody else is running. She is good in that space because she does not act frightened. She acts calculating, which is far more unsettling.
No One Gets Out Alive is the argument for giving her more. She takes the lead as Ambar, an immigrant with no papers and no options who rents a room in a boarding house, and the film runs almost entirely on her face and her decision-making. Nicolas Winding Refn's Too Old to Die Young put her in a very different register, slow and stylised, and she held it. The credits since have been spread thin across big ensembles, which is a shame given what the horror lead showed she can do.

Where to start with Cristina Rodlo
Watch No One Gets Out Alive first. It is the only title here that hands her the whole film, and the performance is precise about a specific kind of fear, the sort that comes from having no institution to call.
After that, Miss Bala is the most conventional showcase and Too Old to Die Young the most demanding: Refn shoots scenes at a pace that exposes any actor who is faking, and she comes through it fine. The Terror is the best-written thing she has appeared in, though the part is smaller than the billing suggests.
For the genre television, Halo and 68 Whiskey are both squad shows that use her as the competent one, and The Beautiful Game is the gentlest thing on the list if you want her in something warm.
