Britt Lower

Britt Lower spent roughly a decade being the funniest person in shows that were not about her. Born in Heyworth, Illinois, in 1985, she worked through Unforgettable as Tanya Sitkowsky, then Man Seeking Woman as Liz Greenberg, the sister with her life under considerably better control than the hero's, on a comedy that kept swerving into surrealism and needed someone to react like a human being.

Severance changed the scale. As Helly she plays a woman introduced to her own workplace self, and the trick of the performance is how much hostility she keeps loaded behind a neutral office face. Comedy timing turns out to be exactly the right training: the show delivers horror at the pace of a corporate induction video, and Lower's readings keep locating the joke inside the dread without ever letting the tension out. It won her the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2025.

Her other work is worth finding rather than famous. Mr. Roosevelt gives her the tidy new girlfriend and she refuses to play the character as a villain, which is the whole reason that film works. Holly Slept Over and Those People are the independent films that keep an actor sharp between jobs. Future Man and Ghosted used her without ever working out what they had.
