Annie Ilonzeh
Annie Ilonzeh is an actor, born 1983.
Daytime television was the way in. Ilonzeh played Maya Ward on ABC's General Hospital across 2010 and 2011, and the network then moved her almost straight into a lead, Kate Prince in its reboot of Charlie's Angels. That show did not last. It is a punishing way to begin: handed a franchise, then handed the cancellation notice before there is enough of it to prove anything.
What followed was the American network circuit, one arc at a time. Melrose Place, Switched at Birth, Person of Interest, Graceland and Allegiance all found parts for her, and there were recurring runs on Arrow, Drop Dead Diva and Empire. 2017 opened the film side: Kidada Jones in the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me, and a lead in the thriller 'Til Death Do Us Part. From 2018 to 2020 she was Emily Foster on NBC's Chicago Fire, which is still the longest and most widely seen job on her record.
Since leaving that series she has worked mostly in mid-budget thrillers, cast as federal agents and thriller leads: an FBI agent in Peppermint, Visser in Agent Game, then Fear and Vicious Affair, with Run and Rockabye ahead. The shape is steady employment rather than one defining part, and the closest thing to a defining part remains the one she walked away from in 2020.

Where to start with Annie Ilonzeh
The obvious entry is Chicago Fire, and it earns the spot: a big procedural ensemble is a generous place to watch an actor settle, and this one gave her years rather than episodes.
For film, All Eyez on Me is the one with weight. She plays Kidada Jones in a biopic more interested in impersonation than in people, and she is one of the few things in it behaving like a person. Peppermint is the standard version of her thriller work, efficient and forgettable, and Fear is thinner still. The network work is more fun than either: Person of Interest and Graceland are both sturdy ensemble procedurals and both use her well.
Leave Charlie's Angels for last. It is a curiosity rather than a recommendation, useful mainly to see what a network lead looked like before the machine dropped it.
