Alyssa Milano
Alyssa Milano is an actor, born 1972.
Milano has been famous since childhood, which makes the shape of her career unusual. Most people's memory of her begins in 1984 with Samantha Micelli on Who's the Boss?, a role she played until 1992, and almost nobody gets a second act after eight years as America's sitcom daughter. She got several. She was also Jenny Matrix in Commando (1985), the kidnapped daughter the entire plot exists to recover.
What happened next was deliberate and slightly ruthless career management. Through the mid 1990s she took a run of erotic thrillers and horror pictures, Embrace of the Vampire, Poison Ivy 2, then Fear (1996) as Margo, and the old image was gone. Melrose Place hired her as Jennifer Mancini in 1997, and in 1998 Charmed made her Phoebe Halliwell for eight seasons, the role that defines her for an entirely different generation.
She has kept working at series scale ever since: Billie Cunningham on My Name Is Earl, Savi Davis on Mistresses, Coralee Armstrong on Insatiable, plus voice work in Lady and the Tramp II and Kick Buttowski. Away from acting she is known as an activist, most visibly for her part in the #MeToo movement in October 2017. Six series roles across four decades is a rarer achievement than any single credit on the list, and it is the honest summary of what she is good at: being worth watching every week, for years at a time.

Where to start with Alyssa Milano
The long haul is Charmed; eight seasons is a commitment, but the first three are where the show is loosest and the cast is plainly enjoying itself. If that is too much, Who's the Boss? is the primary document of her as a child performer, and it holds up better than its reputation.
For film, Commando is the essential one, a lean 1985 action picture in which she is the entire motivation. Fear is the sharpest of the 1990s thrillers she used to change lanes. My Name Is Earl and Insatiable show the later comic register, the second far stranger than it was given credit for, and Brazen is the streaming mystery for a night when you want something undemanding.
