Aimi Tanaka
Aimi Tanaka is an actor, born 1992.
Her voice is also a product. Alongside the acting, Tanaka is the voice provider for Otomachi Una, a VOCALOID4 vocal, and for the related Talk EX, VOICEROID2 and Voidol speech banks, with further updates built for VOCALOID6:AI, Synthesizer V AI and Synthesizer V 2 AI. Producers who have never heard her name have written songs in her voice, which is a strange kind of fame and a genuinely modern one.
The performing career runs in parallel and is substantial on its own. Affiliated with 81 Produce, she won Best Rookie Actress at the 10th Seiyu Awards. Her signature role is Umaru Doma in Himouto! Umaru-chan, a character who is a poised model student in public and a hooded gremlin at home, a joke that only lands if one actress can make both versions sound like the same person. Tanaka can flip between them mid-sentence.
Since then the work has been steady rather than headline-grabbing: Akane in Non Non Biyori, Ryuzu Bilma in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Yuri in So I'm a Spider, So What?, Kururun across the Tropical-Rouge! Precure run, Hina in Slow Start, Umi in Summer Pockets. She also released an album, Cobalt, on Wave Master. The pattern is a specialist in high bright voices who gets trusted with the ones that have to carry a joke as well.

Where to start with Aimi Tanaka
Two episodes of Himouto! Umaru-chan will settle whether she is for you. It is a one-joke premise carried almost wholly by a single vocal performance, and worth two episodes purely to hear the switch between Umaru in public and Umaru at home.
Non Non Biyori is the better series and the calmer one, rural and slow and quietly funny. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- drops her into something much bigger and darker, while So I'm a Spider, So What? gives her a straighter dramatic job. Among the recent work, Summer Pockets is the visual-novel adaptation and Teasing Master Takagi-san: The Movie the gentlest thing on the list. Parents, meanwhile, will meet her as Kururun in Tropical-Rouge! Precure whether they planned to or not.
